Karlos Marco Raya

Karlos Marco Raya, born in Castellón de la Plana and currently based in Dijon, France. He began his musical education with Luis Maicas at the Mestre Tárrega Professional Conservatory of Music, followed by studies with Pilar León, and completed his training with Patricia Genís Yago. In 2014, he moved to France to continue his education at the Vichy National Conservatory, where he studied with Sandra Langlois, and later at the Dijon Regional Conservatory with Luigi Vecchioni (a famous member of the Quatuor Manfred). He completed his higher education in 2022 at the Pôle Supérieur de Dijon with Anne Mercier (international soloist and concertmaster of the Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne), earning the DNSPM (National Superior Professional Musician Diploma) and a State Diploma for Higher Violin Teaching.

He also pursued a degree in Musicology at the Sorbonne University of Paris, which he completed at the University of Burgundy. His studies included harmony, counterpoint, and composition under the guidance of Patrice Brefort, Eugène de Montalambert, and Laurent Hurpeau. He furthered his musical education through two editions of the Benicàssim International Music Course, Musica Vestys (France), the Galitzine Stage (France), and jazz improvisation classes. He has attended masterclasses with Mari Tampere-Bezrodny, Albert Zorrilla, Bruno Vidal, Fedor Rudin, the Quatuor Manfred, Christophe Poiget, Irina Medvedeva, and Thierry Juffard. He has been a member of the Young Symphony Orchestra of Castellón, the Camerata 94 Chamber Orchestra, and has collaborated with the Tallinn International Youth Orchestra (TIYO), Meraki Orchestra, Orchestre Sostenuto, Orchestre Nationale Dijon Bourgogne, Ensemble Transfiguré, as concertmaster in the Chambre Symphonique, and the Orchestre des Folies Artistiques. He is also a founding member of the Quintette Isolde and a member of the Quatuor Anouman since 2022. He has given violin recitals with pianist Masahiko Omori and performed chamber music with the Quatuor Anouman in France, Switzerland, Morocco, Western Sahara, and various cities in Spain. With the orchestra, he has performed in venues in Russia, France, Italy, Estonia, and Spain. He has had the privilege of premiering works by renowned contemporary composers such as Pierre Thilloy and Camille Pépin under the baton of prestigious conductors like Gergely Madaras and Joseph Bastian. In August 2022, he premiered as a soloist in France the work “Solrak” for violin and orchestra by French composer Fabien Chavanton, with whom he has had the fortune to collaborate on several occasions. He is currently a violin professor, conducts the string orchestra at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Communal of Chenôve in France, and is part of the substitute roster for the Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne, the Dijon Opera, as well as various chamber music and jazz groups.
